Student COVID Testing Opportunities

Volunteer Student Covid Testing Opportunities
Posted on 11/08/2021

Dear Bemus Point Community,

As required by the New York State Department of Health, our school is providing an opportunity for you to participate in one or two COVID-19 testing programs for students. The testing programs are completely voluntary and are in partnership with the Chautauqua County Department of Health in collaboration with Quadrant BioSciences, Inc. The two voluntary testing programs are:

Voluntary Surveillance Testing - This is the opportunity for your child’s voluntary participation in Surveillance Testing, commonly referred to as “pool” testing. This testing model will allow for 10% of randomly consented non-symptomatic individuals from our school to be tested weekly. These tests use an oral swab that children can do themselves with the supervision of a medical professional. This testing helps to identify positive cases and to prevent the potential spread of illness within the school.

Voluntary Rapid Testing - Any student that is symptomatic may get a rapid test by our school nurse (with parent permission). If the test is negative, the student can stay at school if the child feels well enough and his/her temperature is below 100.0 F. If the test is positive, the student must go home and quarantine for a minimum of ten days after the first symptom. This test uses an outer nasal swab completed by the school nurse.

Please know NO STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN EITHER A SURVEILLANCE TEST OR A RAPID TEST WITHOUT PARENTAL PERMISSION. We hope the following links will help in answering any questions or concerns you may have.

If you desire to have your child(ren) be part of the surveillance testing, you will be required to create a student profile using the following link: https://app.clarifi-covid-19.com/

If you desire to have your child(ren) be part of the rapid testing available at school, please complete the Google Form using the following link: https://forms.gle/me1Za78NVb6ukWq49

Please indicate if your child(ren) will participate in either testing by Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Sincerely,

Joseph Reyda, Superintendent of Schools
