Remote Learning Update

Dear Bemus Point Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you and your family have been able to enjoy the summer break!  As we continue to prepare for the start of the 2021-22 school year, I wanted to share a key update regarding potential instructional models for the start of school in September.

As a district, we place tremendous value on in-person learning and we are preparing for a return of all of our students to full-day face-to-face instruction at both schools.  As we begin to receive guidance regarding remote learning and other important areas including face coverings, social distancing, and virus testing, we will continue to update our families.  The New York State Department of Education has not yet released new information regarding the ability of school districts to provide a remote learning model for the upcoming school year.

If future guidance released by the New York State of Education alters our plans to return all students to face-to-face instruction this fall, we will update the Bemus Point Central School District community.  With this in mind, in order to continue our planning and preparation, we are asking parents/guardians of children who may be interested in a remote learning environment (if allowable by NYSED and the district) to complete the attached Google Form by August 6, 2021. You only need to fill out this form if you are potentially seeking online remote learning for your child(ren).  You will need to provide a valid medical excuse to your child's building principal for the remote option to be considered. Please note that the remote learning opportunity may likely be a partnership with BOCES, which will include students from other school districts in the area, and the commitment would be for the duration of the 2021-22 school year.

Finally, if you have unique needs that you would like to discuss, please reach out to your child’s principal or guidance counselor.

Thank you for your support as we come together to help our students have an exciting and rewarding 2021-22 school year!

Respectfully,

Joseph Reyda

Superintendent of Schools
