BPE COVID-19 Alert 05/03/2021

BPE COVID-19 Alert 05/03/2021
Dear Bemus Point Community,

The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please understand that we have also chosen to share all COVID-related information with our entire school community so that everyone is aware of what is happening in our district. With that in mind, the purpose of this letter is to inform you that an individual at Bemus Point Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.

The local department of health has been notified and is taking further steps. The affected individual has been isolated and the local department of health has or will identify and contact those individuals identified as close contacts of the individual in question. Close contact means being within 6 feet of someone for more than 10 cumulative minutes while they are infectious with COVID-19, regardless of mask use or direct physical contact.

We are working with the health department and are taking all recommended steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Steps we are implementing in cooperation with the local health department include:

• These individuals will not return to our program until they have completed quarantine/isolation procedures for COVID-19 as directed by the local department of health.

• The areas used by the individuals were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized as part of our daily cleaning procedure.

We will provide further updates if additional steps need to be taken by our program. Please continue to monitor yourself for symptoms and stay home if you are sick. In addition, please contact your healthcare provider if you develop symptoms or if you have any additional questions or concerns. More information on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home or on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.

Finally, we ask that you please respect the privacy of any individual in our school community who has tested positive and continue to focus on the measures we are taking to protect the health and welfare of our community.

If you have questions regarding the information in this letter, please contact us.

Thank you,

Joseph Reyda
Superintendent of Schools
